    UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center

    The mission of the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center is saving lives by transforming cancer prevention, detection and care, and making personalized cancer medicine a reality by creating, translating and disseminating exceptional cancer science and medicine. The Center's major research focus is on the discovery and testing of new agents for cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment with a strong emphasis on translational oncology and drug development through relationships with local and regional biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. It was designated as an NCI cancer center in 1978 and as a comprehensive cancer center in 2001. (NCI Thesaurus)
